KYIV: Drone footage obtained by The Associated Press indicates that fighting has ravaged the Ukrainian town of Ocheretyne. Russian military have targeted the settlement in eastern Ukraine's Donetsk area.
Russian forces have been moving forward in the region, bombarding Kyiv's exhausted and ammo-starved men with bombers, drones, and artillery. While acknowledging that the Russians have established a "foothold" in Ocheretyne, which had 3,000 residents before to the conflict, the Ukrainian military maintains that fighting is still going on.
Villagers have hurried to leave, with one 98-year-old woman making the nearly 10-kilometer (6-mile) trek by herself last week while using a cane and slippers to get to the Ukrainian front lines.
The video shows no people at all, and it doesn't seem like any of the Ocheretyne buildings were spared from the conflict. A large number of homes, apartment complexes, and other structures appear irreparably damaged, and numerous homes have been reduced to heaps of bricks and wood. Additionally, a nearby industry has sustained significant damage.
In addition, smoke can be seen rising from a number of homes in the video, and at least two buildings are on fire.
There are no people visible in the film, and it doesn't appear like any of the Ocheretyne structures were spared from the fighting. Many houses, apartment buildings, and other structures seem to be beyond repair, and many dwellings have been reduced to piles of wood and stones. A adjacent factory has also suffered substantial damage.
In the video, smoke can also be seen coming from several houses, and at least two of the buildings are on fire.
According to Russian official media RIA, which cited Sergei Lebedev, a local pro-Moscow guerrilla organizer, Moscow's men attacked a drone storage in Kharkiv that Ukrainian military had been using overnight. It was impossible to independently confirm his remarks.
According to Syniehubov, on Friday, Russia bombed Kharkiv as well, causing damage to residential structures and starting a fire. Two men were hurt and an 82-year-old woman died.
The military of Ukraine reported that during the course of the night, 13 Russian Shahed drones were fired at the eastern Ukrainian districts of Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk; all of the drones were shot down by Ukrainian air defenses.
