The president of the UAE laments Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohamed Al Nahyan's passing.

Seven days of mourning have been declared with flags flown at half-mast

 

Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, the representative of the Abu Dhabi ruler in the Al Ain region, passed away today. President Sheikh Mohamed has expressed his condolences.

 

The following obituary was published by the Presidential Court:


“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful... With hearts faithful to God's decree and destiny, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan mourns his uncle, H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region, who passed away today."

 

Beginning today, Wednesday, May 1, the Presidential Court issued an official proclamation of seven days of half-mast mourning.

 

Sheikh Tahnoun was frequently spotted escorting the President of the United Arab Emirates to various events throughout the nation in recent years.

 

 

The Vice-President, Prime Minister, and ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, also sent his condolences to the President, the Al Nahyan family, and the UAE populace. Sheikh Mohammed recalled Sheikh Tahnoun's accomplishments and his "years of giving" in a statement on X.

 

The President of the UAE received condolences from the Court of the Ruler of Sharjah as well.

 

Sheikh Tahnoun was formerly the deputy chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and the chairman of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc). He is shown here with the late Sheikh Zayed, the founding father of the United Arab Emirates.
