Famous American cartoonist Jerry Craft will be the main attraction at the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival.

The Sharjah Children's Reading Festival (SCRF), which is well-known for its capacity to bring together readers from all over the world and to emphasise the importance of reading to young people, is once again poised to enthral audiences with a lineup of distinguished speakers who will lead thought-provoking panel discussions and informative workshops.

The largest event in the area devoted to fostering young people's imaginations, organised by Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) and scheduled to take place in Expo Centre Sharjah from May 1 to May 12, with the theme "Once Upon a Hero" this year.
The event, which attracted 190 attendees from 25 different nations, is a testament to the timeless value of books and the ability of narrative to inspire greatness and cross generational boundaries.

Outstanding roster
The stellar group of talented people on this year's list promises an engaging encounter for guests of all ages.

Heading the group is renowned American cartoonist and children's book illustrator Jerry Craft, whose widely acclaimed graphic novels "Class Act" and "New Kid" and syndicated comic strip "Mama's Boyz" have garnered him praise from many quarters. Raúl The Third, an author and artist for the New York Times bestseller book known for his vivid depictions of the modern Mexican-American experience, is joining Craft. Their presence ensures a narrative and artistic blend that will appeal to audiences all around the world.

Dr. Caroline Leaf, a renowned American communication pathologist and neuroscientist, will be adding even more value to the festival's programme. Dr. Leaf is well-known for her studies on the mind-brain link, and her knowledge of mental health and memory creation should excite and educate guests.

Malaysian natives Stacy C. Bauer and Ying Ying Ng highlight their distinct abilities. Bauer, a well-published author renowned for her witty asides and realistic storytelling, will enthral audiences with stories of her childhood exploits. With more than thirty years of experience teaching music, Ng provides insightful information about the creative and educational processes.

David Chek Ling Ngo from Malaysia completes the elite group of prominent visitors by showcasing his extensive background in academic brilliance and leadership. Ngo has made nothing less than remarkable contributions to the disciplines of education and institutional growth, being named by Stanford University as one of the Top 2 percent Scientists Worldwide.

In the meanwhile, a wide range of international celebrities will be present at the event. Renowned novelist and teacher Lia Shalvashvili of Georgia enters the ring with a wealth of children's book experience. The festival's intellectual conversation is further enhanced by the contribution of Dr. Al Jones, a renowned psychologist with expertise in gender and educational psychology, from the United States.
Not to be forgotten are the esteemed Indian visitors, Bethany Clark, Sohini Mitra, and Mamta Nainy, who each contributed their own viewpoints on children's books and publishing.

Cathy Camper (USA), Joanne Steer (UK), Dr. Sandy Zanella (Mexico), Toyin Akanni (NIG), Deeba Zargarpur (representing the US and Afghanistan), Liam Kelly (IRE), Hannah Moushabeck (USA), Lauren Tamaki (USA), Leila Boukarim, Jane Mount, and Zelmaré Viljoen are some other notable individuals.
